Stainless Steel Sheet & Plate
At ThyssenKrupp Materials (UK) we offer a wide range of stainless steel sheet in various alloys, sizes and finishes. Our stock range includes the following types of stainless steel:
Austenitic Grades
Austenitic is the most widely used type of stainless steel. It has a Nickel and Manganese content that makes the steel structure fully austenitic and gives it ductility, a large scale service temperature, non-magnetic properties and good welding ability. The range of applications of austenitic stainless steel includes; house-wares, containers, industrial piping and vessels, architectural facades and constructional structures.
Austenitic grades available:
301 (1.4310), 201 (1.4372), 304/304L (1.4301/1.4307), 321 (1.4541), 316 (1.4401), 316L (1.4404), 316Ti (1.4571) and 305 (1.4303)
Ferritic Grades
Ferritic stainless steel has properties similar to mild steel but with better corrosion resistance. The most common of these steels are 12% and 17% Chromium containing steels, with 12% used mostly in structural applications and 17% in house areas, boilers, washing machines and indoor architecture.
Ferritic grades available:
430 (1.4016), 44 (1.4521), 409 (1.4512), 441 (1.4509) and 434 (1.4113)
Martensitic Grades
Martensitic stainless steel contains mostly 11% to 13% Chromium and is both strong and hard with moderate corrosion resistance. This steel is mostly used in turbine blades and in knives.
Martensitic grades available:
420L (1.4021), 420H (1.4034) and 420 (1.4028)
Austenitic-Ferritic (Duplex) Grades
Austenitic-Ferritic stainless steel has both ferritic and austenitic lattice structure, hence their common name, Duplex stainless steel. This steel has some Nickel content for a partially austenitic lattice structure. The duplex structure delivers both strength and ductility. Duplex steels are mostly used in petrochemical, paper, pulp, and ship-building industries.
Duplex grades available on application.
As well as the large range of different grade of material available, we can also offer material in various different finishes to suit our customer requirements. The finishes available from stock are:
2B (mill finish)
Bright Annealed
240 Grit Dull Polished
240 Silicon Satin polished
Ultrabright Polished
We are also able to offer bespoke polished finishes according to our customer requirements and have worked with several customers to create a unique finish for their material.
